Schooling Bessie with Anymore, XY Room and Back of the Closet Mash (BOCM)

I guess I’m kind of in “Back to School” mode lately. I can’t help myself. When I was a kid I always LOVED getting ready for the school year to start. I didn’t love starting school, mind you, just the preparations leading up to it. The school clothes shopping, new shoes and, my personal and very private obsession, new school supplies! Come on, you know you’re with me!

Anywhoooo, I thought this cute little jumper from Anymore was the perfect first day of school outfit. I paired it with pieces (shirt, shoes, legwarmers, glasses and tights) from an older outfit I had in the back of my closet  (would this constitute a BOCM? Maybe?) I love the texturing and shading on all of these items and I thought they complimented each other very well.

When looking for a perfect school setting, I had to do some extensive research. I mean, do you know how many school settings in SL are XXX? It’s seriously unbelievable! A lot of reform schools in SL. Apparently. *coughs*

I finally found this beautiful sim called the Principality of Picklefish that had a tiny little schoolhouse, complete with a little mascot. Meet Bessie, isn’t she darling?

Bessie and I became fast friends and she even posed for a shot with me. What a little cutie-patootie, huh? However, she did try and eat my smiley face button.  We had words, she apologized and we’re totally BFF’s now.

I have long been a fan of Pandora Wrigglesworth of Curio Obscura. Not the kind of fan that follows her around, snapping photos and asking for autographs. No, I’m a bit more subtle than that, believe it or not.  I’m just in awe that so much talent and creativity can be inside one person! Her imagination knows no boundaries, and the fun and crazy items she creates are unlike anything else in Second Life.

Today I’m sporting Curio Obscura’s Delinquent Curls mesh hairstyle. Now, this isn’t a look I would go for every single day, but MAN is it cute for some fun and silly photos! The best part is, the hair is color change so you can switch it up anytime you like!

I am embracing my inner cheerleader today, as if you couldn’t tell. Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw didn’t have anything on this little rahrah! Ahhh those were the good ol’ days. Skating through bio because the teacher was the football coach… good times. ‘Erm.. ummm…. sorry anyways *coughs* Where was I? Oh! Yes, the poses are also from Curio Obscura, they’re a part of the Sassy pack.

Yet another funtastic creation in Pandora’s bag of tricks is the Flying Bow. You can wear it on your head or your back, or wherever you like. When your feet are planted firmly on the ground, the bow looks like just another accessory. But when you take flight that, my friends, is another story completely! As you flit about the skies, the bow opens up into wings to assure you a safe journey. I’ll bet the Lollipop Chainsaw chick didn’t have THAT!

The mesh cheerleading uniform is from Meli Imako and, believe it or not, is FULL PERM. Yeah, that’s right, I said it! Full perm and comes with all assorted mesh and maps and whatnot for you creators out there. The cheerleadning set includes the entire outfit, except the pom poms, I Photoshopped those in myself to hide my ugly man hands. YUCK! (Oh and disregard the little bit o’ boob popping out there, that was totally my lazy fault, the uniform comes in various sizes and is super awesome!)

Stay tuned for more fun odds and ends from Curio Obscura in the near future!

Shiloh ❤

Some More XY Room Goodness in the Midst of My Crazy!

I’ve been dealing with an identity crisis in Second Life lately. Wanting to appease my own playful spirit, without rocking the boat too, too much. Fashion blogging allows me to step out of my comfort zone and try on different identities and styles, and the results are way too much fun!

With this outfit, I was going for a younger, hip type of vibe. Many of the items you see here are available at XY Room until the end of August.

I am not normally a bag person, I usually just end up giving myself a black eye when I carry one because my AO is extremely fidgety! However, I couldn’t pass up this beautiful bag from Rivendale.

The colors of the Rivendell Caprice bag compliment the myriad of colors in this sweet mesh dress by Wertina so well, I dubbed it a match made in heaven.

My skin and shape are from Panda Punx. The skin is a little more bold than I usually wear, but I thought it really fit perfectly with the outfit, and the shape was just too cute for words!

Do you sometimes need to step out of the box and try something new? XY Room is the perfect place to get your SL Fashion fix without investing a week’s worth of dough!

It Can’t Rain All the Time: Gorgeous New Mesh Trench from Hoorenbeek

This week I was inspired by the weather here in my hometown, which normally includes sub-zero temperatures and snow-covered city streets. This Winter, however, it feels more like Spring, with rainy weather and warmer temps – not that I’m complaining. I wanted Shiloh and Jake to play the parts of one of the trendy power couples that I see walking the streets in the morning together, heading to their respective offices for the day. Let’s bring a little spring to Second Life fashion!

Just in time, Hoorenbeek came out with their all mesh men’s trench coat, and boy does it look incredible. I honestly don’t know how they do it. Their fabric textures just look so real, without looking out of place in a cartoon world, if you know what I mean. Some Second Life fashion designers use photos of real fabrics to texture their designs without any enhancement and for some reason they just look out of place to me. The shaping and shading of the mesh on this trench is impeccable and they provide plenty of sizes for fitting your male avatar. Variations of shirts to be worn only with the trench are included with your purchase, including turtle necks and business shirts. They also released this trench as part of an entire outfit this week, so stop by Hoorenbeek and check it out! I’ll be reviewing a few other new outfit sets from Hoorenbeek this week!

The few issues my handsome model had were with the alpha layer rezzing and then us being able to see the mesh once he wore it. I’m pretty sure that’s an SL or Firestorm problem and not any fault of the designer. Does anyone out there have that problem as well? Sometimes it seems like we reach our “mesh allotment” and then the viewer says “uh-uh-uh… no more mesh for you!” At least until we clear cache and reload. That makes me sad.

Shiloh has on a really sweet pencil skirt from Fashion Point. I don’t know if the mesh was pre-purchased full-perm or if it was created by the designer, but I DO know that I love, love, love the pinstripe fabric texture and the extremely realistic belt that is a part of the mesh creation. This skirt is perfect for any SL office environment. Paired with the My Darling blouse from Ero Rabbi and Hoorenbeek’s Pleaser boots, which come with 3 different styles of ornamentation on the top of the boot, she looks smart, sexy and sophisticated!
